Brand Manager – Bench Brewing Company

Bench Brewing is an experiential craft brewery located in the world-renowned wine region of Niagara, Ontario. Surrounded by Ontario’s finest agricultural land, our location provides the ideal setting for crafting great, approachable beers that reflect our local terroir.
The Bench Brewing campus sits across eight beautiful acres and features a 50hL brewing system, a tap and tasting room, a beer garden, a ‘funk house’ for our wild ale and barrel fermentation program, and our very own hops field. Our brewery is a place for our guests to relax, learn, and experience the craft of brewing beer.
The Role:
Reporting to the General Manager, the primary role of the Brand Manager is to develop and execute consumer strategies that effectively drive awareness, trial, and loyalty for our brand and our beers. With one direct report in our in-house Graphic Designer, the Brand Manager will also help bring new products to market and oversee all of our digital platforms, including the Bench website and all social media platforms.
Core responsibilities include the following:
• Development and execution of our annual brand plans, including budget management and all KPI reporting.
• Working closely with our production and operations teams, serve as the key project manager when planning our innovation pipeline and strategic release schedules from R&D through to commercial launch. This includes managing supplier relationships and project budgets.
• Partner with the Trade Marketing manager to ensure our brand identity is consistent and effectively coming to life in both the retail and on-premise channels.
• Partner with the Taproom & Hospitality team on on-site consumer brand building initiatives to ensure consistent brand communication and messaging.
• Routinely conduct market analysis on consumer, customer, and competitive landscape to understand new style and packaging trends and how they should influence our innovation, pricing, and promotional strategies.
• Proactively plan marketing communication strategies and content calendars across all our social media platforms. This includes leadership of all sponsored ads and ensuring routine and positive engagement with our followers.
• Supporting all Bench strategic partnerships, including sponsorships, membership associations, charitable organizations, and other community outreach initiatives.
• Serving as the in-house expert on the Canadian legal and regulatory landscape as governed by the provincial liquor boards and the provincial alcohol and gaming commissions. This includes a thorough understanding of all mandatory packaging requirements and considerations for all consumer-facing
communications.
The ideal candidate will have:
• A post-secondary degree, in marketing, advertising, business, or related field.
• 5+ years of direct and progressive work experience in a marketing capacity.
• Excellent understanding of consumer segmentation and brand positioning concepts.
• Experience with concept development and brand identity creation.
• Both an analytical and creative approach to building brand equity in a competitive landscape.
• Experience in the consumer-packaged goods industry. Alcoholic beverage experience is a strong asset.
• Demonstrated success in commercializing / launching new products.
• Proven track record of project management and problem solving. Excellent planning and organizational
skills are vital.
• Demonstrated success in the digital space - social media, digital advertising, and content development
are core pillars of our marketing efforts.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to ‘tell the story’ insightfully and
effectively. Presenting strategies and pitching new ideas to cross-functional stakeholders (formally and
informally) are key elements of the role.
• Familiarity with electronic marketing and communication platforms (MailChimp, HubSpot). Basic
knowledge of website design also desirable.
• Advanced understanding of MS Office suite of programs, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and
PowerPoint.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment through multitasking, prioritizing, and managing time
proactively, independently, and effectively.

Graphic Designer – Bench Brewing Company

The Role:
Reporting to the Brand Manager, the primary role of the Graphic Designer is to support the development, evolution, and application of the Bench visual identity across all areas of the brewery. This individual will bring a creative and innovative spirit to help bring new brands to life through packaging and label design. The
Graphic Designer will also develop all photo and video content for our digital platforms, including the Bench website and our social media accounts.
Core responsibilities include the following:
• Driving our innovation agenda by developing design concepts for all new brand platforms, line extensions, and packaging materials.
• Supporting the Brand Manager on all brand projects and product launches, including liaising with our suppliers and communicating with internal stakeholders to ensure we hit key milestones and deliverable dates.
• Supporting the Trade Marketing Manager to ensure our brand identity is consistent and effectively coming to life in both the retail and on-premise channels. This includes the development of printed and digital POS materials such as sell-sheets, e-newsletters, tap handles, shelf-talkers, backer cards, menu inserts, and other sales and marketing trade tools.
• Maintaining, updating, and refreshing all elements of the Bench Brewing website to ensure accuracy and relevance for maximum impact and SEO.
• Daily management of all Bench social media platforms, including creation of photo and video content, timely and positive engagement of our followers, and oversight of all sponsored ads / boosted posts.
• Partner with the Taproom & Hospitality team on on-site design needs including menus, flight cards, and merchandise and apparel.
• Supporting the sales and marketing teams with all partner and customer presentations by adding aesthetic polish to pitches and proposals via PowerPoint, Word, PDF, and other digital avenues.
The ideal candidate will have:
• A post-secondary degree or diploma, in graphic design, marketing, advertising or related field.
• 3+ years of professional design studio experience in a graphic design capacity.
• Expertise in Adobe Suite / Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Lightroom).
• Experience with concept development and brand identity creation.
• Experience designing in the consumer-packaged goods industry including all stages of the prepress process considered a strong asset.
• Aptitude for developing and editing digital content, both photo and video. High competency in copywriting also an asset.
• First-hand photography and basic video production experience strongly preferred. Access to a DSLR camera and experience in animation/motion graphics are also considered strong assets.
• Demonstrated success in the digital space - social media, digital advertising, and content development for our website are core pillars of our marketing efforts.
• Solid understanding of MS Office suite of programs, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with electronic marketing and communication platforms (MailChimp, HubSpot).

Ottawa Sales Associate – Bench Brewing Company

The Role:
Reporting into the Ontario Sales Manager, the primary role of the Ottawa Sales Associate is to be the face of Bench and the voice of our beer when building relationships with bars and restaurants as well LCBO, grocery store, and Beer Store managers and staff. Territory responsibilities would be primarily focused on the Greater Ottawa Region, and spans west to Kingston, Bellville, and Prince Edward County. Due to the nature of the role, a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends will be required.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• With support form the Ontario Sales Manager, plan and execute efficient daily route plans for sales calls.
• Effectively set and track daily, weekly and monthly goals required to delivery quarterly sales targets.
• Develop new business by increasing distribution across all retail and on-premise channels within the geographic territory.
• Leverage our data tools and systems in building fact-based selling approaches in order to influence decision makers.
• Collaborate with the inside sales team, the logistics team, and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of beer and successful execution of all consumer activations.
The ideal candidate will have:
• A post-secondary degree, ideally with a focus on business, marketing, or sales.
• Relevant experience – background in sales, particularly in beer and/or other alcoholic beverage categories, would be an asset.
• A thirst for knowledge – desire to constantly be learning about beer styles and brewing processes, and being excited to share that knowledge with our customers and consumers.
• The drive to win as a team – collaborating to achieve success is what we do here at Bench.
• A reliable vehicle and clean driving record (Bench offers a car allowance)
• Knowledge of Microsoft programs (i.e. Outlook and Excel).
• A willingness to lift the occasional keg or case of beer!

The Role:
The role of the Taproom team member involves all aspects of the guest experience during their visit to our brewery. Hospitality and beer education are at the forefront of all that we do, as we strive to provide a friendly and unique customer experience.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Maintain 100% customer satisfaction through genuine hospitality, the first time
Be in constant communication with your team to execute service or resolve issues in a timely, courteous and professional manner
Conduct dynamic brewery tours
Understand responsible alcohol service policies
Be proactive in maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, merchandising
Increase sales through product knowledge, customer engagement and effective communication of the Bench brand
Whether on, or off duty, always represent Bench values by demonstrating respect for other breweries/wineries/processes
Some travel may be required for off-site events
